Andhra Pradesh: Man allegedly beaten up by police hospitalised
The man did not have a problem when he was picked up by the police, claim his family members. His condition went bad after that.
Tirupati: A man was hospitalised after he was allegedly beaten up by the police in Tirupati on Thursday. Earlier on Tuesday, Lakshmipathi was taken away by Tirupati East police following a complaint by his neighbour, Subramanyam, that the man damaged his motorcycle and had threatened him with a rod in hand on Tuesday night near Bliss Hotel. The police dropped Lakshmipathi at his house on Wednesday but he seemed to be mentally unconscious. The parents of Lakshmipathi who is l being treated at SVIMS in Tirupati are worried about his health. They insist that his health condition had gone down. Different. The parents alleged that the police beat him up severely.
Speaking to media persons, Lakshmipathi's mother, Rathamma, said, "We don't know what happened that night. The police came and took him away in a Jeep. They started beating him on the road itself. We could not go out as the complainant Subrahmanyam locked our house. It was opened only after the police took him away. The police will be responsible if any happens to my son."
Speaking to DC, Tirupati East Police Station CI Siva Prasad said, "Subramanyam called 100 and informed that Lakshmipathi had damaged his bike with a rod and threatening them. Our team rushed to the spot and found Lakshmipathi drunk. We did not beat him. That day, the doctors also admitted that he was drunk. He was quiet fine when our men left him. But, suddenly their family said, he is mentally unconscious. The FIR is also registered under IPC sections 506 and 427."
