Seven killed in two separate road accidents in Tirupati and Nellore districts

 Tirupati: Seven people have died while three others were grievously injured in two road accidents in Tirupati and Nellore districts on Friday.

In the first incident, four people died on the spot when the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a college bus near Samudayam village in Narayanavanam mandal of Tirupati district. The deceased were Ramesh Naidu, Pushpa, Bhanuprakash and Vanajakshamma - all residents of Parameswara Mangalam in the adjoining Puttur mandal.

Police said the victims were returning home after attending a function in Chennai. One Sivamma, who was rescued from the spot, has been admitted to a hospital in Tirupati.

In another accident on the national highway near Maddurupadu in Kavali mandal of Nellore district, three persons died and two others were injured. A car carrying Hyderabad-based devotees from Tirupati to Vijayawada collided with a container truck parked on the roadside.

The car had hit a local woman crossing the road, before crashing onto the stationary truck, police said.

Two occupants of the car, including the driver, B Jeevan Kumar (49) and woman passenger M Sunitha (41) died on the spot. The pedestrian, T  Subbamma (50), who was hit while crossing the road, also died on the spot.

Two other occupants of the car were injured and hospitalised. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The Kavali police registered a case.
