Hyderabad: Kid hands over Rs 2 lakh from safe
Stranger first asked the unsuspecting child if elders were home, then asked him for cash.
Hyderabad: A 5-year-old boy handed over about Rs 2 lakh to a man who approached his house when elders were not home in Malakpet.
According to the police, his parents were not at home when a man knocked the door and asked if his elders were around.
He further asked him if there was any money at home. Following this, the kid handed over the cash from the unlocked safe in the house.
A complaint was received from Naimathullah Khan, 33, a businessman from SBI colony of Shalivahananagar of Malakpet on Sunday wherein he stated that while he had gone to Autonagar, his wife Sameera had gone to her mother’s house in the same locality. Her son Mahir Ahmed Khan, 5, and her brother-in-law’s son, Musthafa, 6, were at home.
“As the mother was in the neighbourhood, she did not lock the house and that is when an unidentified man approached their place and first asked if there were any elders. When the kids that they had gone out, he asked Mahir Ahmed about the cash his father had. The kid promptly handed over '1.94 lakh from the unlocked safe of the house,” said Malakpet police inspector, K.V. Subba Rao, adding that the man then left the place and is absconding.
Based on a complaint received from the businessman, a case has been booked under relevant sections of IPC and an investigation was started.
The Malakpet police are checking the CCTV cameras in and around the residential area to cross check if the accused was known to the family.
