Tirupati: Minor boy sexually assaults 6-year-old cousin held
Based on the complaint given by the victim's parents, the police registered a case against the boy under POCSO Act and other relevant sections.
Tirupati: Srikalahasti division police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a 15-year old boy who was found to have allegedly sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl, reportedly the cousin of the accused.
Though the incident happened a while ago at the hamlet of Brahmana Palle in Srikalahasti Mandal of Chittoor district, it came to light on Friday after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint with the police.
According to Srikalahasti Deputy SP P. Rama Krishna, the accused, whose name was not revealed, was reportedly a long distant relative of the victim’s family.
“The accused, who was a contract worker at a private company, used to stay close to the family and used to visit their residence once in a while. The accused had allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl while her parents went outside. The minor girl informed the parents about his heinous act after they returned home,” the DySP said.
Based on the complaint given by the victim’s parents, the police registered a case against the boy under POCSO Act and other relevant sections. However, the accused is still at large and the police have initiated a search operation and are investing the case.
