Bengaluru: Two people died in two separate accidents in Kumaraswamy Layout and Jeevan Bima Nagar traffic police limits. A 22-year-old engineering girl student who was riding pillion died on the spot, while the rider escaped with injuries after a lorry crashed into their bike and ran over her on Saturday night in Kumaraswamy traffic police station limits.
The deceased, Ankita Babra, was a final-year engineering student from Delhi who had come to the city a year ago and stayed in Marathahalli. She was interning at a private firm in the same locality. She was riding the pillion with Anubhav Jha on his Royal Enfield motorbike when the accident took place.
Ankita and her four friends were heading to a hotel from Marathahalli towards Kaggalipura. Around 12:30 am, the lorry, which was speeding, crashed into Anubhav's bike from behind near Kanakapura Main Road. The two fell on the road, and the lorry ran over her. She died on the spot, while Anubhav escaped with injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
In another accident, a techie died on the spot after he lost control over his bike and crashed into a divider on Saturday night in Jeevan Bima Nagar traffic police limits. The deceased, Rahul Gosh, was a resident of Vinayaka Layout and hailed from Assam. He was working as a software engineer in a private firm.
Around 8.30 pm, Rahul was on his way back home along with his friend when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a divider on Old Madras Road near Rajarajeshwari theatre. Rahul sustained severe head injuries and died, while his friend escaped with minor injuries.
