Hyderabad: Two jailed for harassing girl

The accused used to live in an apartment in Samrat Colony, West Marredpally.

Hyderabad: Seven years after the crime, child friendly court judge Kunchala Suneetha convicted two persons for insulting the modesty of a 10-year-old girl and sent them to 14 months in jail.

The accused used  to live in an apartment in Samrat Colony, West Marredpally. During Diwali in 2013, when the girl, who was 10 years old at that time, was burning fire crackers, the two accused made vulgar gestures and passed comments on her. The victim’s family approached the West Marredpally police.

The police registered a case under IPC Sections 509 IPC (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences.

During the prosecution the accused were found guilty and  First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kunchala Suneetha sentenced the accused to one year and two months in jail.
