Loot attempt at unguarded ATM in Othukkungal

The police have launched an investigation based on a complaint filed by the branch Manager of SIB, Malappuram.

Malappuram: An attempt to loot an unguarded ATM of the South Indian Bank at Othukkungal near Malappuram was made in the wee hours of Thursday. According to the bank, the money  in the ATM amounting to Rs 8 lakh was  safe.  Two CCTV cameras and a sensor inside the kiosk were found destroyed. The CCTV visuals, which were recovered by the police, showed the face of the robber.  Finger print experts and a dog squad  collected evidence from the spot.

The police have launched an investigation based on a complaint  filed by the branch Manager of SIB, Malappuram. “The suspected robber is under police radar and he will be taken into custody soon,” said V. Vinod, Senior House Officer of Kottakkal police station.  The  loss due to the damage  is estimated to be Rs 1.5 lakh, the police said.
