3 held for illegally selling liquor in 2 places in Chennai

Chennai: Cracking down on those selling alcohol illegally, three people found selling liquor in two different places were arrested by the police on Friday.

Police also seized 119 bottles of liquor and Rs 3, 400 from them. Based on a tip-off, a special team headed by inspector of police, Shastri Nagar, conducted a raid in the Tamil Nadu Housing Board Complex in Shastri Nagar 1st Avenue on Friday night.

Police arrested C. Kandavel (36) of Sivagangai found selling liquor in the complex. In all, 103 liquor bottles and Rs 1,200 were seized from him.In another case, K. Kumaresan(48) a resident of Devakottai in Sivagangai and V.Rathinavel(52) of Perungudi were arrested by the Velachery police for illegally selling liquor on Balakrishna Street near the Perungudi Railway station. In all, 96 liquor bottles and Rs 2, 200 were seized from their possession.All the three were arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
