ATM van heist: Bengaluru police grappling for clues
Dominic had opened the two trunk boxes by breaking open the padlocks.
Bengaluru: The city police believe that driver of the ATM cash van, Dominic Selvaraj Roy, who made away with Rs 92 lakh, along with his wife and son, have not left the country, but may have moved to a different state.
“We have checked if his and his wife’s passports were used to buy tickets for any overseas travel on Thursday and concluded that the accused is still in the country. We have also informed the Airports Authority of India to alert all airports in this regard,” said a senior investigating officer. “Dominic’s wife, Evelyn had come from Dubai only on November 1 and we suspect it was a well planned heist and they may have planned fleeing abroad,” he added
However, the four teams deployed to track the accused have hit dead ends, as Dominic, his wife and son were not close to their family members, relatives and friends. “The elder brother of Dominic’s father had no idea about his whereabouts or home address. Dominic’s other relatives were also not in touch with him,” said an officer.
For Evelyn, aged around 40, Dominic was her second husband and they got married 14 years ago, the officer said. Evelyn has a 22-year-old son named Ryan from her previous marriage, but he too knew nothing about his mother’s whereabouts, the officer added.
With the accused not using any mobile phones or debit and credit cards, as they have enough cash, the police are groping in the dark.
