Guntur: Rejoining duty delayed, staffer tries to end life

After returning home Rani saddened over the delay tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills.

An 18-year-old college girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming cow dung powder (pest) on Thursday near Sulur in suburbs of Coimbatore.

Guntur: After the suicide of a Dalit employee of medical and health department, another junior assistant working the endowment department tried to commit suicide due to delaying of her rejoining of duty at Guntur on Saturday. According to the reports, Nirmala Rani was working as a junior assistant in the Sri Brahmaramba Malleswara Swamy Sivalayam at Peda Kakani of Guntur district. The endowment department higher officials 50 days ago had suspended her on the allegations of behaving rudely with the Sivalayam trust board members. She went to the High Court which directed endowment department to take her back. 

She came to rejoin the duty but endowment assistant commissioner B Subba Rao was unavailable hence other officials asked her to come on Monday. She contacted Mr Subba Rao over the phone and he said that he is on leave and asked her to come on Monday. After returning home Rani saddened over the delay tried to commit suicide by taking sleeping pills. Her husband and others relatives shifted her to a hospital for treatment and her condition is stated stable. Meanwhile Mr Subba Rao lamented  that she tried to commit suicide but said endowment department will take her back on duty.
