Anantapur: Girl ends life, Facebook friend arrested

ANANTAPUR: Police has arrested the ‘Facebook friend’ of a postgraduate student of Krishnadevaraya University who committed suicide. Lakshmi Prasanna, a senior MSc student in the zoology department, committed suicide at her room in the university hostel on December 18. Lakshmi’s parents had accused university officials of harassing her.

Itikalapalli circle inspector Srinivasulu said Lakshmi’s mobile phone conversations and chats revealed that a Vizag-based youth, K. Suresh, had “cheated” her in the name of love and that forced her to take the extreme step.” Suresh was arrested from his native place.
