Coffee bar ransacked by goons, owner attacked in Coimbatore

Salem: A ‘Coffee Bar’ run by a Kolkata-based entrepreneur at Kichipalayam in the steel town was ransacked by a gang of miscreants and the eatery's owner severely attacked late on Sunday, in what is alleged to be part of an extortion racket selectively targeting small business establishments in Salem.

Around 9 pm on Sunday, a group of rowdies stormed into the small eatery, helped themselves with a lot of eatables, but refused to pay the bill. When Naushad asked them to pay up, he was severely beaten up injuring him at several places. The gang members also smashed glass items and broke wooden furniture items in the eatery, flinging them all over the place.
