Telangana: 4 pose as SBI employees, held for fraud
The gang cheated a Hyberabad-based man to the tune of Rs 1 lakh, police said.
Hyderabad: Four frauds were arrested by the cybercrime police of Rachakonda on Monday for cheating people in the guise of being from SBI customer care. The arrested were identified as Babulal Hembrom, Asin Kisku, Nibash Mondal, and Ramu Mandal, all natives of Jharkhand. The gang cheated a Hyberabad-based man to the tune of Rs 1 lakh, police said. The arrest was made following a complaint from the victim who said his sister had received a call from the men who claimed to be from an SBI customer support team asking her for information related to bank account.
“Trusting them, she gave them bank details, including OTPs, after which they made online purchases to the tune of Rs 1 lakh from victim’s account,” cybercrime inspector P. Ravinder Reddy said. A case was booked under relevant Sections of the IPC and an investigation was started, during the course of which it came to light that the call was made from Jharkhand. “The gang members were nabbed by a team of officials that was sent to Jharkhand,” said Mr Reddy. The accused were brought to the city on a transit remand and would be produced in the court.
