Police torch ganja worth Rs. 5 crore

Vijayawada: NTR district police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata on Sunday set afire a heap of ganja worth ₹5 crore on the Donabanda mine road near Paritala village under Kanchikacherla police station limits.

Police had seized the narcotic in raids conducted in various parts of the district within the police station limits of Nandigama, Reddigudem, G. Kondur, Mylavaram, Chilakallu, Vatsavai, Penuganchiprolu, Jaggayapet, Chanderlapadu, Kanchikacherla, Veerulapadu, One Town, Kothapeta, Satyanarayanapuram, Ajit Singh Nagar, Nunna, Governorpeta and Suryaraopeta.

Kanti Rana said the ganja set on fire weighed 14,301.471 kg and had been seized under Operation Parivarthan launched to protect youth from the narcotic.
