Star tortoises seized from air passenger in Tiruchy

TIRUCHY: The air customs officials seized 80 live star tortoises from an air passenger bound for Bangkok by Thai Air Asia Flight at Tiruchy Airport late on Thursday night. Sources said customs officials made the seizure from the luggage of passenger Zahir Hussain of Ilyankudi in Sivagangai district. District Forest authorities, to whom the seizure was handed over, are quizzing the passenger. 

Meanwhile, the All Women police Tiruverumbur, arrested the head of the Chemistry department of a private college here for allegedly sexually harassing a woman assistant professor of the same department in person as well as over the mobile phone.
