Drugs gangs now use Dark Net, says Hyderabad police chief
Among those arrested in three rackets, 11 were IT professionals and six students, while the others included a doctor with a private hospital
Hyderabad: The organised drugs gangs have now switched to the Dark Net, said Hyderabad police chief C.V. Anand, talking about the newly launched Narcotics Enforcement Wing. He said that among those arrested by the wing in three rackets, 11 were IT professionals, one was a university student, five were pursuing BTech, while the others included a doctor with a private hospital.
"A Nigerian, Nicolas Olusula Rotimy, was arrested. All of the arrested persons were consuming drugs after purchasing from drug cartels. Drugs including marijuana, LSD, MDMA and hash oil, were seized,” Anand said.
The Nigerian national was staying in Puducherry and had moved around several cities to sell drugs. Later he tied up with local suppliers and was delivering the drugs through them, Anand said.
The Narcotics Investigation Supervision Wing arrested Sai Vignesh, a central university student from UoH who purchased LSD from Dark Web, students Sai Chaitra, Nagarjuna and Jaya Balaji, Hemanth, an associate at a pharma company, IT and software employees Sai Balaji, Anudeep, Tejaswi Kumar, Aditya Rajan, assistant manager at a hospital chain, Dr Mohd Madney, medico at a hospital and Sai Anirudh, founder of an IT company,
Also arrested were Kush Mishra, analyst, Siddharth Vijay Kumaran, consultant, at MNCs, Rohith Kumar, HR at an IT company, Balaji Bhagvan Singh, accountant at an MNC, Lakhani Jiten, executive of a welfare society, Anish Kumar, a data engineer at Amazon and Chitukula Samar Simha Reddy, a supervisor at a cargo service.
The wing also arrested Nikhil Shenoy, a DJ, Sone Rao, a ganja cultivator from Adilabad, Amar Singh, Ulhas Sable, Sakaram Sable and Goti Hari Singh, drug transporters, Jwala Pandey, drug supplier, and Mahender Singh, a drug peddler.
