PMK candidate Arul attacked in Salem

Condemning the attack, PMK leader Dr.Anbumani Ramadoss said it had been unleashed by political opponents who feared electoral defeat.

According to prosecution, a gang used to hire rooms in Vadapalani hotels to rape abducted teenaged girls.

Salem: The PMK candidate for Salem west, R.Arul, was attacked with wooden logs and his car was smashed by an unidentified gang on Monday night.

Condemning the attack, PMK leader Dr.Anbumani Ramadoss  said it had been unleashed by political opponents who feared electoral defeat. All PMK candidates should be given police protection, Anbumani Ramadoss
urged. Arul, who is the state deputy general secretary of the PMK, was talking to his partymen in his election office at Arun Nagar around 10 pm on Monday.

As he got a call on his mobile phone, he walked out of the office to answer the call. Suddenly, an unidentified gang descended there and started attacking
him with wooden logs.

Arul suffered bleeding head injuries and rushed into his party office, screaming for help. A PMK functionary, Vijay, who came to Arul’s rescue was also battered on his head with logs. After attacking the two PMK men, the assailants escaped on motor bikes. On receiving information, the Salem police rushed the two PMK men to the Salem government hospital for treatment. Dr Anbumani Ramadoss  who visited his partymen in the hospital, urged the police to nab the culprits immediately.
