Khammam: The bodies of six members of a family were found in Palair reservoir on Wednesday. According to police, Saleem, who used to perform puja to Hanuman, killed five persons including his father and threw the bodies into the reservoir. He then committed suicide by drowning in the reservoir. The deceased included Saleem, 32, his wife Rajia, 28, two daughters Nasreema, 7, and Nasreen, 5, father Penta Saheb, 55, and mother Yaqub Bee, 50. All are residents of Jellacheruvu under Kusumanchi mandal. The village is 10kms from the reservoir.
Saleem took his father to Palair reservoir in the wee hours of Wednesday saying that he had to perform some puja. Saleem’s elder brother Lal Saab also went with them but Saleem asked him to bring their mother, his wife and daughters. After they arrived, Saleem then asked Lal Saab to bring a tayetthu (used in puja).
When Lal returned, he could not see anyone and searched for them. They were found floating in power house canal of Palair reservoir. Lal Saab informed the police. Later, a letter written by Saleem was found that stated that he disapproved of his father’s behavior. “Because of it, I killed him and others,” he said in the letter. Police received complaint from the family members of Rajia that Penta Saheb had been sexually harassing her that irked Saleem. There were arguments between father and son on the issue. The police started investigation into the case.
