Bengaluru: Five unidentified men barged into the house of a jeweller in K. R. Puram and made away with nearly two kilograms of gold, after threatening his home-alone wife by brandishing pistol and knives, on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at the residence of Panda Ram, a Rajasthan based jeweler, on Devasandra main road in Ayappa Nagar. His jewellery and pawn shop ‘Pancharatna Jewelers’ is located on the Devasandra main road close to his house, the police said.

According to the police, the jeweller’s house was located on the fourth floor of an apartment and had a grill door. “The jeweller’s wife claims that around 1.30 pm five people came. She saw them, but opened the grill door. They entered and robbed the house. She was not hurt,” a senior police officer.

“There are several loose ends in this case; however, we are questioning the workers at the jewellery and pawn shop to ascertain clues about the incident,” he added.

The wife also told the police that all the five men spoke Hindi. They threatened her with pistol and knives and demanded that she open the safe. The gang then made away with the booty, around 2 kilograms of gold. However the jeweller is estimating the weight of stolen gold, a senior police officer said.

The police also found the place to be very crowded and could not locate any CCTv cameras at the apartment or nearby. The police suspect it to be a planned robbery with the involvement of insiders. K.R. Puram police have registered a case and begun investigation.
