Bengaluru: Sub-inspector attacked by rowdy gang

The SI, Nayaz Ahmed, has sustained serious head injuries, but is said to be out of danger.

Bengaluru: A sub-inspector attached to the KG Halli police station was attacked with machetes by a gang of rowdies when he tried to foil a murder bid on another rowdy in Shyampur in K.G. Halli on Thursday evening.

The SI, Nayaz Ahmed, has sustained serious head injuries, but is said to be out of danger. 

The incident occurred at around 6 pm in full public view when a gang of rowdy Nadeem was chasing rowdy Umar to kill him. As SI Nayaz was informed about the attack, he rushed to the Shyampur Road, the place of the attack, and tried to intervene.

But Nadeem’s gang attacked him with machetes, and Nayaz sustained grievous injuries and collapsed on the road. Following the attack, the Nadeem gang fled the spot.

The police arrived on the spot and rushed Nayaz to a nearby hospital.

Rowdy hacked to death:
In an incident of a gang war, a 45-year-old rowdy sheeter was hacked to death by another gang in in Jalahalli police station limits on Saturday.

The incident occurred at around 6.30 pm in Bahubali Nagar near BEL Circle and the deceased has been identified as Mohan Kumar alias Moni. According to police, there was an old rivalry between Mohan’s gang and Ajay Kumar alias Chinni’s gang.

Mohan along with 4-5 members of his gang, equipped with lethal weapons, went to Ajay’s house on Saturday allegedly to kill him. But, in a turn of events, Ajay who was with his associates, snatched the machete from Mohan’s hand during the fight and attacked him. The gang then fled the spot.

Mohan was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The police who reached the spot have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
