Hyderabad: One held for cheating 12 on promise of jobs
On verification, the aspirants found that the copies were of forged visas.
Hyderabad: A 33-year-old man from the city has been arrested by the Chaitanyapuri police for allegedly cheating 12 people persons on the pretext of helping them get jobs in Dubai.
According to police, Mohammed Farooq, 33, a driver from Hafeez Baba Nagar in Chandrayangutta, lodged a complaint with them stating that Abubakar Bin Ali Yafai, 33, of Erragadda, had promised to provide a job as driver for him and five others in Dubai, and collected Rs 1.95 lakh from them in January 2018.
He had also collected Rs 1.6 lakh more from six others on the same pretext.
When the victims pressurised, Yafai sent them copies of visas through WhatsApp to their mobile phones. On verification, the aspirants found that the copies were of forged visas. When they asked him to return their money, Yafai sent video messages accepting the guilt and asked them to wait for some more time, said the police.
On Sunday, Yafai was arrested and one mobile phone and five copies of fake visas were recovered from his possession. He will be produced before the court for judicial remand, the police said.
