Wandoor police retrieves CCTV footage on custodial death
The team would conduct a detailed examination of the footages.
MALAPPURAM: The police’s probe into the custodial death of a 50-year-old man last week in Wandoor has made significant progress with retrieving the CCTV footages from the Wandoor Police Station. The investigation team led by Crime Branch DySP, C.K. Babu has examined the visuals which show the victim going out to the latrine where he was found hanged.
The station has four CCTV cameras installed to capture visuals of the lock up, location where the general diary is placed and station compound. The team would conduct a detailed examination of the footages. It was found that one of the cameras has the visuals of the victim, Abdul Latheef, seeking permission to an officer on duty to go to latrine.
But there is no cameras directed towards the latrine. Visuals of Latheef being assaulted have not seen in the footages, said the police. “We have made significant lead in the investigation and more details would be revealed later,” Mr Babu said. Abdul Latheef was found hanged inside the latrine at the station on 18th this month after he was held in a theft case.
