Chennai: The anti-land grabbing wing of the Central Crime Branch arrested two elders for allegedly cheating two persons of Rs 3 crore by grabbing their lands using fake documents. According to officials, one of the victims, M. Prema (75) of Kancheepuram, lodged a complaint that her 3,882 sq ft land in Nandambakkam had been transferred to an unknown name, using forged documents.
Subsequently, the anti-land grabbing wing registered a case and launched a hunt for the offenders. After investigation, K. Parvathy (55) of Ennore and S. Premkumar (59) of Tiruvottiyur, were found to have impersonated Prema with the help of a youngster and submitted forged documents to transfer the land in their names. They were planning to sell the land worth Rs 1.5 crore to others. Later, officials arrested the duo. Investigations revealed that the duo had cheated another person, Murugaiyya of Thiruninravur in the same manner by transferring ownership of his land worth Rs1.5 crore in their names.
The accused were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Officials have launched a manhunt for the youngster in the crime.
