Hyderabad: The Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case under the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act) against BRS former MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, his son Prashant Reddy, former Hyderabad district collector Amoy Kumar and former municipal commissioner Md Yusuf

Police registered a case on a complaint filed by Ibrahimpatnam chairperson Kappari Sravanthi, who belongs to the Dalit community, and lodged the FIR (574 of 2023).

Sravanthi in her complaint alleged that Kishan Reddy and Prashant Reddy had taken Rs.2.5 crore from her to appoint her as municipal chairperson during the 2019 elections. Since 2019, Amoy Kumar, who was made incharge collector for Rangareddy, Kishan Reddy, Prashant Reddy and Yusuf insulted her in the name of her caste.

Sravanthi stated in the complaint that she was often harassed to hand over her responsibilities to the vice-chairman. Yusuf had several times pressured her to apply for leave. When she resisted, he started insulting her in public.

She alleged that Amoy Kumar had called her to the Hyderabad collectorate office on July 5, 2002, and started pressurising her to apply for leave, else he would suspend her.

According to Sravanthi in her complaint, Amoy Kumar allegedly told her that ‘low caste’  people should not fight with ‘upper caste’ people. “Apply for leave or else you will be suspended,” he is alleged to have told her.

Sravanthi alleged that Kishan Reddy, the then MLA, had ordered her to give a separate chamber to Yusuf by vacating the TPO room.

Based on her complaint, police booked all four under the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act) and IPC sections for intentionally insulting a person and punishment for criminal intimidation and took up investigation.
