Two arrested with Rs 10.15 lakh worth Chinese manja during raid

Hyderabad: Two kite shop persons were arrested by the southeast zone task force and Kalapather police for selling the banned Chinese synthetic nylon-glass coated manja during a raid ahead of the Sankranti festival. They seized the banned manja worth Rs 10.15 lakh from their possession.

Police teams simultaneously raided the premises of Bajaj Patang Ghar in Gulzar House and A1- Kite shop in Kalapather and arrested Venu Gopal Bajaj (55) and Mohd Shazaib (40), the respective owners, for being in possession of a huge quantity of the banned Chinese product.

During the investigation, the accused pointed out they illegally procured the banned manja from Agra and Raichur.
