Bengaluru: Trio stabs SSLC student to death after a fight
Police detain two minor boys; reason for murder yet to be ascertained.
BENGALURU: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old SSLC student was stabbed to death by a gang of three teenagers near Yelahanka Government Composite PU College on Monday afternoon. The reason for the murder is yet to be ascertained, while the police have detained two minor boys in connection with the crime.
The deceased, Harsharaj N., was a tenth standard student at the Yelahanka Government High School and a resident of Surabhi Layout in Yelahanka. His father, Narayan, is a daily wage labourer.
The police said that the school was celebrating its annual day on Monday. Harsharaj along with his friends was sitting and watching the cultural events.
Meanwhile, a gang of three other teenagers, including a former student of the school and the other one said to be a PU student, called Harsharaj and his two friends out.
“After leaving the school premises, they went near the railway track around 100 metres away from the school. Both the groups started a fight and Harsharaj and his friends also assaulted members of the other gang. In the melee, a member of the other gang pulled out a knife and stabbed Harsharaj. His friend, who came to his rescue, also sustained a minor stab injury. Passersby rushed Harsharaj to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” a police official said.
The police swung into action and picked up three boys from a PG accommodation in Hunasamaranahalli. All the accused and injured people involved in the case are minors, the police said.
School Vice-Principal Mr Vivekananda clarified that the incident did not take place on the school premises. “Harsharaj was a good student and he had also received an appreciation certificate during the school day function, for his achievement in sports,” he said. A murder case was registered at the Yelahanka police station.
