COIMBATORE: A 38-year-old man was virtually caught red-handed while attempting to steal money from a temple hundi near Gandhipuram in Coimbatore in the wee hours of Friday.

Police said during routine patrolling in the early hours, police noticed a man tampering with and attempting to break open the 'Hundi' of Muthumari Amman temple in VKK Menon road near Gandhipuram.

Seeing the cops the man started to run along with the money, but police chased him in a cinematic style and nabbed him. The man was identified as Kochadai Pandian from Sivaganga district.

Further investigations revealed that Pandian was involved in various house break-ins in Saravanampatty area. Few years ago. Police seized Rs 3,500 from Pandian which he allegedly took from the temple Hundi. Police lodged a complaint and further investigations are on.
