Elderly man hacks ex-wife at Vilappilsala
Bid to split up family property is said to be trigger
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 71-year-old man allegedly hacked his ex-wife in broad daylight after she tried to split up the family property, where he was living after divorce, at Vilappilsala on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Sosanna, 61, of Angel Bhavan, Kunnupuram near Vilappilsala. The suspect identified as Yesudas has been taken into custody by the Vilappilsala police.
The couple had parted ways 10 year ago and got a divorce. The couple has two children, Jose and Angel. Sosanna who was residing in Kottarakkara started a legal battle to split the family property of 14 cents at Kunnumpuram where the septuagenarian was living. On Tuesday, she reached the property and the couple argued over ownership of the property. The house also was split as per the order and maintenance work was going on here.
Enraged, Yesudas picked up an axe kept there by workers and allegedly hacked her on the neck and torso. Workers and people who rushed on hearing the screams rushed Sosanna to the Medical College Hospital. The axe-wielding senior citizen did not try to escape but sat alone in a room of his house until policemen came. He was taken into custody and Sosanna was declared dead. Yesudas will be produced before a court on Wednesday. The body has been kept at Medical College mortuary for an autopsy.
