Chennai: Four men arrested for assaulting a woman at Thiruvanmiyur claimed that thewoman’s husband hired them to kill her.
The four, identified as Parthasarathy, 25, Prabhu, 23, Vicky, 24 and an unidentified auto driver were arrested for attempting to murder Saranya, the wife of Rajesh, 34, who was arrested three months ago in connection with a theft case.
Sources say that Rajesh had sent the men after his wife as he suspected that she was having an extra-marital relationship. He was also angered that Saranya never visited him in the prison nor did she make any effort to take him out on bail. Even after he was released only a few days ago, she did not treat him specially and went to stay at her relatives house, sources said.
So, to take revenge, Rajesh picked up Saranya in an autorickshaw from Kannagi Nagar and told her that they were going to visit a temple in Thiruvanmiyur.
When they were at Sivasundar Avenue, four men barged into the auto and stabbed Saranya in the chest, hands and head before fleeing the spot. After attacking her, they threw her into a park nearby.
Passersby saw Saranya in a pool of blood and rushed her to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital where she is undergoing treatment. A case was then registered and the police were able to arrest the four with the help of CCTV cameras in the locality.
Rajesh and one more accomplice, however are still missing, police sources who are on the lookout for them said.
