Kochi: Perumbavoor police on Saturday arrested a wom-an for allegedly pledging spurious gold ornaments weighing 3.50 sovereigns at a private financial institution. The arrested was identified as Renuka, 35, a resident of Chembu in Kottayam district. 

According to police, the accused had arrived at the spot with another person, identified as Boby Philip when she was arrested by a police team led by Perumbavoor police sub inspector P.I. Faizal. However, Mr. Philip fled the scene bef-ore the woman got caught, which later ca-me into light that he used a stolen motorcycle.  Police said he had two similar cases registered against him in Perumbavoor police station. Renuka was later produced before the court and remanded.
