Nellore: A man killed his one-month-old daughter and buried her in the backyard of their house at Peddaraveedu town in Prakasam district on Sunday night suspecting the fidelity of his wife. The incident came to light on Monday. According to police, the accused, Malapati Satyanarayana Reddy of Peddaraveedu, had married Sridevi of Bommalapuram in Pedda Dornala mandal about eight years back and they have three children.

Over the last one year, however, Satyanarayana had reportedly been harassing Sridevi suspecting her character. Her parents had asked local elders to intervene and sort out the issue. They were forced to approach the police when Satyanarayana did not heed to the advice of the elders. The police counselled the couple.

Meanwhile, Sridevi became pregnant and delivered a girl child but the doubts in Satyanarayana resurfaced after the birth. He throttled the girl despite request from children and wife to spare the infant on Sunday night. Police led by DSP S.V. Ramanjaneyulu exhumed the body of the child in the presence of the tahsildar N. Nimma Raju. Medical officer Dayanidhi carried out post-mortem. Markapuram CI Bheema Nayak took Satyanarayana into custody after registering a case and investigating.
