THRISSUR: The funeral of Satheesan, 51, who died after a clash between CPM and BJP men at Kaipamangalam on Saturday, was held on Monday. Karthyayani, 65, a cousin of the deceased, collapsed and died during the funeral.
The forensic department sources in the Medical College Hospital here said that the deceased had suffered blows and was stamped on his chest which led to a heart attack and his death.  Forensic surgeon Hithesh Sanker held a detailed discussion with Kodungallur Circle Inspector P.C. Bijukumar about the contusion and bruises on the body, especially on the back of the head of the victim.

On Sunday, the relatives of Satheesan and BJP men had opposed a post-mortem by another forensic surgeon at the MCH citing that they did not trust him.
Mr Bijukumar, who was summoned by the forensic surgeon, told DC that he was yet to get the post-mortem certificate and that coronary disease had led to Satheesan's death. "Normally, the cops will be present during the post-mortem. But as there were some law-and-order issues at Kaipamangalam, I could not reach the MCH in time and was summoned," he said. The CPM and BJP men had a tiff at the house of the deceased on Sunday when the CPM claimed that Satheesan was their worker. But only BJP leaders, including state president Kummanam Rajasekharan, were present during the funeral on Monday afternoon.
