Hyderabad: A man sexually assaulted his four-year-old girl niece in Hayathnagar's Pedda Amberpet village. The case came to light after the victim's mother took her daughter for a bath and found that she was bleeding.
She did not question the victim at the time, but was shocked when she noticed her daughter's gown with blood stains, according to the Hayathnagar police.
The assault occurred on December 23, but the victim's parents were hesitant to file a complaint because they were afraid of the accused and feared they wouldn't be able to face the villagers when they returned to their native place.
Upon questioning, the victim informed her mother that 'mama' (uncle) had taken her on a bike, parked it in nearby bushes, and sexually assaulted her. The couple, who are construction labourers, had come to the city three months ago in search of work and were residing at a construction site, according to Venkateswarlu, Hayathnagar police inspector.
The victim is believed to be in a state of trauma. After the couple lodged a police complaint, the accused was detained and booked under the POCSO Act on Tuesday.
