Crime rate goes up in Nizamabad during 2023

Nizamabad: Crime rate within the Nizamabad police commissionerate area increased sharply during 2023 compared to the past two years.

Property, white collar and bodily offences, apart from crimes against women have increased. Fatal road accidents have decreased.

Speaking to reporters, Nizamabad additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) S. Jayaram said bodily offences have increased from 827 in 2021 to 1,008 in 2022 and 1,070 in 2023. Likewise, property offences went up to 1,212 in 2023, compared to 1,071 in 2022 and 676 in 2021. White collar offences, including cybercrimes and those under Essential Commodities Act have increased 13.09 per cent.

The ADCP said in 2021, there had been 276 white collar crimes, which increased to 626 in 2022 and 708 in 2023. Crimes against women increased drastically from 388 in 2021 to 550 in 2022 and 568 in 2023.

However, fatal road accidents decreased. In 2021, 329 persons had been killed in 320 fatal accidents. 340 persons died in 2022 and 309 died in 2023.
Recovery of stolen property decreased by 21.02 per cent in 2023 as compared to 24.67 per cent in 2022 and 59.03 percent in 2021.

ACPs M. Kiran Kumar (Nizamabad), Ravinder Reddy (CCRB), Shravan Kumar (CTC), Narayana (Traffic), Rajashekar Raju (Taskforce) and Vijayasaradhi (CCS), CCRB inspector Surender Reddy and the IT core team members were among those present.
