Hyderabad: Unable to bear the harassment of a private financier an Army officer's wife allegedly committed suicide in Neredmet on Saturday.

Police said the woman, B. Neeraja, had borrowed money from one Ramu Yadav, who came to her house and abused her in foul language. She later hanged herself at her home. An abetment to suicide case was registered.

Police said that B. Neeraja, 36, the wife of Army officer B. Narender, was staying at Kakatiyanagar along with her son studying in SSC and a daughter studying in Class VII.

Police said that nearly a year ago she borrowed Rs 1.2 lakh from Ramu Yadav. Since then, she was paying interest regularly. But a few days ago, Ramu told her that she should pay Rs 1.5 lakh including the principal and interest. She did not agree and said she will pay only the principal.

Ramu started harassing her to return the money immediately. On Saturday he came to her house and demanded to return the amount immediately and abused her. "Depressed she hanged herself with a sari at home," said Neredmet SI D. Praveen Babu.

Based on a complaint from her brother Paramesh an abetment to suicide case was registered against Ramu Yadav. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem. A hunt is on for Ramu who is absconding.
