Cricket Betting racket: 7 men arrested in Hyderabad
The arrested persons, the seized cash and material were handed over to Kushaiguda police.
Hyderabad: Police raided a gambling den in Kushaiguda on Monday and arrested seven persons including two engineering students, who were conducting betting on the T20 match between SA and Sri Lanka. Police seized Rs 11,12,500, cell phones, bikes and cash counters. The organiser, Suleman Surana, his aides and 27 punters are absconding. The students arrested are A. Jagan Reddy and A. Anjan Kumar.
SOT additional DCP E. Ramchandra Reddy said that Suleman Surana, a resident of Sindhi Colony in Secunderabad, was organising betting in the city. "He started his career as a small time punter and earned huge amounts. Later, he became an organiser and his brother Rahim managed the business across the city," he said. Surana had links with Delhi organisers and conducted betting in crores.
