Man held with pistol at Uppal Metro station
The seizure of the weapon created a stir among the public at the Metro station, eye-witnesses said.
Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man was arrested with a pistol at the Metro station in Uppal on Tuesday night. He told the security staff that the weapon belonged to his employer.
The man, identified as T. Satish Kumar, a resident of Karimnagar district, was frisked and picked up by the Metro station security staff for possessing a 7.65 mm pistol and eight live rounds, Uppal inspector P. Venkateswarlu said.
Investigations revealed the pistol was licensed in the name of Kataram zilla parishad territorial constituency member Challa Narayana Reddy, sources said. Police registered a case against Kumar under the Arms Act and arrested him.
According to sources, he told police that the weapon was handed over to him when his employer Mr Reddy went to Pune for business purpose.
