Bengaluru: Two police constables attached to Hennur police station have been arrested for allegedly extorting money and beating up the employees of a spa on Tuesday, when they refused to hand them money.

The Banaswadi police have arrested constables Vithal Daddi and Sharukh Dongaragaon, both attached to Hennur police station, after the owner of Shine Glow Wellness Centre, Swathi, lodged a complaint against the constables. The spa is located in HRBR Layout in Kalyan Nagar.

According to police, at around 8.30 pm on Tuesday, constables Vithal and Sharukh barged into the spa and demanded Rs 50,000 from the staff. The constables threatened to get them arrested for trumped up charges that they were providing illegal massages.

The spa staff refused to pay them and told the constables that they were not carrying out any illegal activities. The angry constables then started assaulting the staff and took away Rs 28,000 and two mobile phones from them.

Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Seemant Kumar Singh has ordered for an internal inquiry and the two constables have been suspended. They are also being questioned as to why they entered a spa, which is located not in their jurisdiction.
