The girl was allegedly abducted by a four-member gang led by Muhammad Roshan from her rented house in Oachira on March 18. She told the police team that she was in love with the prime accused for the last two years and expressed her interest to live with him.
While the police maintains that the girl is a minor, the relatives of Muhammad Roshan have raised allegations that the girl's family had misguided the police on her age and that she was not a minor.
The police received a copy of the girl's school transfer certificate that recorded her birthdate to be in September 2001, proving that she is minor. The police will further visit her school at Rampura in Rajasthan where she had studied, collecting more details on her age.
As her age has now been inferred to be under 18, the police will proceed with sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (PoCSO) Act, 2012 slapped on all the four accused.
