Chennai: 3 ex-agents of logistics firm held for importing cargo with fake documents

When they were asked to produce the agency's delivery approval, they issued the fake documents.

Chennai: The Airport police have arrested three former employees of logistics firm for allegedly trying to dupe the airport officials by producing fake documents to take delivery of electronic goods at Chennai Airport, on Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Sathish (35) of Red Hills, Sivakumar (32) of Washermenpet and Raj (40) of Tondiarpet. According to the airport police, the trio claiming themselves as agents of a famous courier company arrived at Chennai international airport on Saturday to receive electronic goods worth Rs 4 lakh from Singapore. “When they were asked to produce the agency’s delivery approval, they issued the fake documents.

This raised suspicion among the officials forcing them to call the agency to verify the claims, however, the agency told the trio was not their employees,” the police said. Following a complaint from the officials, the Airport officials arrested Sathish, Sivakumar and Raj and interrogated. During the interrogation, it had come to light that the trio were employees of another courier firm and was dismissed for their similar kind of misappropriation.The Airport police sent the trio to judicial remand and are investigating about the insiders who had helped the accused with the information pertaining the arrival of the goods.
