Potheri murder case: Kancheepuram police arrest maid's boyfriend
Once the identity of the deceased was established, it was easy for the police to zero in on Hussain.
Chennai: The Kancheepuram police have cracked the Monday night murder of Munni alias Sabitha (32), near Potheri railway station. They have arrested her boyfriend Sadiq Hussain (23).
The killer, a neighbour of Sabitha in Vellore, was picked up by the police based on information provided by relatives of the deceased who had come to receive the body after post mortem on Wednesday.
Sadiq Hussain had confessed to the police that he committed the murder as she tried stop him from marrying another woman and wanted him to marry her as he had had an affair with her.
“On Monday Sadiq had come to Potheri from Vellore because Sabitha insisted on it. She wanted to look for a house for the two so that both could settle in Potheri. The two went around Potheri looking for a house and by night reached the station. Sadiq, who works in a butcher's shop in Vellore, was irritated by the nagging attitude of the woman. Both had quarreled after she insisted on marriage. After spending some time in railway station Sadiq took her a few metres away from the station where he slashed her neck”, Police said.
Sadiq had dumped her body amid the bushes and it was found near the railway track on Tuesday morning by gangmen inspecting the tracks. Sabitha was married to Abbas and have one child. She was working as a maid in a house in Potheri and nearby places.
Once the identity of the deceased was established, it was easy for the police to zero in on Hussain.
