7 arrested in country-bomb case in Nandyal

Kurnool: Seven persons were arrested on Thursday in Nandikotkur following detection of country-made bombs in Kotha Muchumarri village of Pagidiyala mandal in Nandyal district on July 25.

The arrested were Asannagari Pedda Rangaswamy from Boyapeta, Kotha Muchumarri, Asannagari Chinna Rangaswamy from Kotha Muchumarri, Sheikh Karim Basha from Patha Machumarri, Boya Chinna Danthalu from Patha Muchumarri of Pagidiyala mandal, Pathan Basheer Khan from Malyala in Nandikotkur Mandal, Katam Chinna Naganna from Kotha Muchumarri and Vandanam Venkata Ramana from Patha Muchumarri in Pagidiyala mandal.

The case related to the alleged targeting of Ashannagari Madhu and Maddileti after the accused conspired to falsely implicate them in criminal cases. The accused procured 31 country-made bombs and planted 22 of them in a water tank at Asannagari Madhu's bathroom.

While the seven persons have been remanded to custody, two others -- Dabbala Venkata Swamy and Bollavaram Swami, who were also implicated in the case -- remain at large.

The police arrested the accused from near Arabic Madrasa in Nandikotkur town. Four country-made bombs were found in the house of Pedda Rangaswamy on Thursday when the police conducted checks.
