Guntur: Student on phone falls from hostel
A student at KL University here fell off the hostel building while playing a video game.
GUNTUR: A student at KL University here fell off the hostel building while playing a video game on his cellphone and succumbed to his injuries at a hospital later, police said. The victim, Yellaraju Venkata Sai Charan, 20, of Podili in Prakasam district, was doing his B.Tech third year in computer science engineering. He fell from the third floor of the hostel building at about 6 am on Monday.
Police said Sai Charan was conscious when his friends found him lying on th ground. He told his friends and the warden, who rushed to the spot, that he was sitting on the parapet and playing a video game on his cellphone when he lost balance and fell. He was rushed to the Manipal Hospital by the warden. The doctors identified a fracture on his right leg and an injury on his back. There were no major injury to the head, doctors said.
However, the veins in the fractured leg were cut and caused internal bleeding. After two hours, he went into coma and died. According to KL University dean Dr Habeebulla Khan, Sai Charan was depressed as he had more than 10 backlogs. He was also suffering from insomnia and asthma, Dr Khan said. Sai Charan’s father Yella-mraju Venkata Sivaraju also that his son had health issues. Tadepalli sub-inspector C.H. Pratap said that the incident appears to be an accident. His parents did not lodge a complaint.
