Hyderabad: Assistant engineer convicted for taking bribe

Special Court for ACB cases sentenced B. N. V. Gopala-krishna for a period of one year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 3,000.

ACB sleuths trapped a panchayat raj divisional executive engineer accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 at his office at Bhimadole in West Godavari on Thursday.

Hyderabad: An Assistant engineer in the Rural Water Supply department, who was arrested  by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in 2005, was convicted on Tuesday. The Special Court for ACB cases sentenced B. N. V. Gopala-krishna for a period of one year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 3,000.

Gopalakrishna, working with the Rural Water Supply Department in the erstwhile Medak district, was caught red handed while taking a bribe of '8,000 from a contractor for releasing the bills for his works.

The ACB judge after hearing the arguments and verifying all the evidences, pronounced the judgement on Tuesday.
