Hyderabad: A CMA (Certified Management Accountant) student from Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh was arrested by the Rachakonda cyber crime police for sending abusive text messages to his former classmate and her brother for warning him to not trouble the girl.

The victim in her complaint  said that she had met M. Sidda Gopal, 26, at an institute while pursuing the CMA course in 2016. The duo became friends and exchanged conversations on text messages and calls, and also through WhatsApp application.

After completion of the coaching, Gopal stayed back at Malakpet. Since October 2018, the girl has stopped attending his phone calls due to personal reasons.

In order to find the reasons for this, Gopal went to the girl’s house to talk to her, where the girl’s family members have warned him to not maintain contact with her.

“Gopal assured the girl’s family that he would not disturb her again. But, he developed grudge on them. To take a revenge, he started sending abusive messages to the girl and her brother and also threatened to defame her by posting on social media,” said cyber crime police, who registered a case against Gopal under sections 354 (D) of IPC and section 67 of IT Act.

During the investigation, accused Gopal was traced to Malakpet and was apprehended.

Two mobile phones were seized from him and produced him in the court along with seized phones in the court for judicial remand, said the police.
