CBI charge-sheet full of false info: Nimmagadda to HC
The CBI filed an FIR against Vanpic Port Ltd. in cases related to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s alleged quid pro quo
HYDERABAD: Nimmagadda Prasad, who represented Ras al Khaimah (RAK) while signing an MoU with the then Andhra Pradesh government in the Vanpic deal, picked holes in the charge-sheet submitted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday. The CBI filed an FIR against Vanpic Port Ltd. in cases related to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s alleged quid pro quo.
Senior counsel T. Niranjan Reddy, arguing on behalf of Prasad before the Telangana High Court in the petition filed by Prasad to discharge him from the case, slammed the contentions mentioned by the CBI in its charge-sheet.
Justice Ujjal Bhuyan was hearing the discharge petitions filed by the accused in the cases filed by the CBI, in relation to Jagan Mohan Reddy’s cases.
Faulting one of the points mentioned in the charge sheet, which stated that the then Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had influenced his Cabinet to get some changes in the concession agreement made in favour of Vanpic and Nimmagadda Prasad, the counsel argues that the probing agency came to these conclusions without any evidence. “The CBI made baseless allegations in the charge-sheet, stating that there was an oversight by the Governor, the government and the Cabinet in approving the concession agreement made in favour of Vanpic projects. But, It could not submit any evidence,” the counsel said. Further arguments will be continued on Tuesday.
