Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday sentenced two IAS officers to one-month’s jail and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on them, citing contempt of court.

Senior IAS officers Shyamala Rao and Pola Bhaskar have been sentenced to imprisonment by the High Court.

The high court ordered the two to surrender before the judicial registrar before December 8.

The court noted that the two disobeyed the court orders and not released payments under the Neeru Chettu scheme since 2019. “Due to non-payment of the bills, the victims approached the court. Even after the court issued orders to pay the pending bills, this was not done by the two.

In the second case in the AP High Court, the National Investigation Agency filed a counter to the petition from Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in the court on Tuesday.

After four years, the CM filed a petition in Vijayawada NIA court alleging that there had been a conspiracy in the attack on him with a knife at the airport. The NIA court took up the inquiry but dismissed the case.

Recently, the CM filed another petition in the high court.

The HC had ordered a counter on the CM’s petition. The NIA filed it on Tuesday. NIA gave a comprehensive explanation of the behaviour of the accused at the airport. NIA claimed that the accused Srinu came to Jagan Reddy and told him the YSRC would win 160 seats and then attacked him.

The NIA said that regular investigation of the case will continue and there was no need for further investigation as the in-depth investigation was completed.
