Cattle smugglers arrested, 63 bovine rescued in Hyderabad
The police rescued 63 cattle and 10 calves from their possession and recovered Rs 1.74 lakh cash, a pickup van and a bike.
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police on Thursday nabbed a cattle-smuggling gang and arrested seven persons for stealing cattle from different parts of the city. The police rescued 63 cattle and 10 calves from their possession and recovered Rs 1.74 lakh cash, a pickup van and a bike.
On Wednesday, police teams from the Hayathnagar and Abdulla-purmet stations nabbed a three-member gang of cattle thieves at Kothagudem X roads and rescued six cattle while transporting them to Bhadrachalam in a pickup van. The police seized Rs 60,000 cash and the van.
They confessed their role in 13 cattle thefts at Abdullapurmet, Hayath-nagar, Ibrahimpatnam, Kandukur and Pocham-pally. After grilling them, the police arrested four persons from Etapaka village in Bhadrachalam district and rescued 57 cattle.
Mahesh Bhagwat, Rachakonda commissioner, said that the accused used to identify the cattle sheds at isolated locations and used to steal the cattle at night. They had their buyers ready in Bhadrachalam. All the arrested persons were sent to remand.
