Youth attacks KSRTC driver at Thenari

Palakkad: A youth brutally attacked a KSRTC driver at Thenari here on Thursday afternoon. Dileep, 23, of Thenari, who was in an inebriated state, attacked the driver Abubaker,43, of Valluvambaram, after the bus allegedly brushed against the SUV in which he was travelling.
Dileep, who works in bakery in Coimbatore, entered the bus through the driver's door and repeatedly punched Abubaker on his face. The incident was recorded by an eyewitness on his mobile phone.
Abubaker was rushed to Mannarkkad Taluk Hospital with a bleeding nose. His condition is said to be stable. Soon after the incident was reported, Hemambika police lead by CI Premananda Krishnan arrested all the three youths travelling in the car and took their SUV into custody.
The other accused in the case are Aneesh Kumar, 29, of Vengodi and Dinesh,23, of Thenari. According to the youth, he got agitated because the driver did not stop after brushing the bus on the car. He also confessed that he was under the influence of the alcohol.
CI said that no damaged was seen on the SUV. Motor Vehicles inspectors will inspect the car on Friday, CI added. The accused have been slapped with several charges including one for assaulting a government official.
