T Srinivas Reddy's men kept tabs on Amboji Naresh
Cops seek custody of Srinivas Reddy.
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police has sought the custody of T. Srinivas Reddy, who allegedly killed his son-in-law, burnt his body and disposed off the ashes in the Musi river.
An analysis by investigation officials of the scene of offence and the confession of suspects indicated that the murder was well planned. Srinivas Reddy is suspected to have used some of his aides to keep an eye on the movements of Naresh on the day he returned from Mumbai, a source said. Meanwhile, with the ongoing agitation in Athmakur against cops, pressure is mounting on senior Rachakonda police officials to take action against the Athmakur sub inspector and Ramannapet circle inspector, who allegedly colluded with Reddy in the initial stages of the probe.
Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat has now ordered an internal probe to examine the allegations against the police officials. "A DCP is probing the matter now. The probe will reveal if there was any kind of negligence by police officials. The investigation officer will submit the report in the next two-three days. After examining the report we will see if action should be taken against the cops," Mr Bhagwat said.
Earlier, sensing negligence by local cops, the commissioner handed over the Naresh murder case to LB Nagar DCP. "The Bhongir DCP and Ramannapet circle inspector were investigating the disappearance of Naresh. But, their probe produced no results. Then the commissioner handed over the case to LB Nagar DCP after which the brutal murder came to light and Srinivas Reddy was arrested," said a source from Rachakonda police.
The investigation officials have filed a custody petition in the local court seeking custody of Srinivas Reddy. The court is likely to give 15 days custody to the cops to grill him further and probe the case in detail. Srinivas Reddy had beat his son-in-law Amboji Naresh to death for eloping with and marrying his daughter Swathi, who was also found dead under suspicious circumstances in her house.
